6 giugno 2014, con la benedizione di Sua Eccellenza Rev.ma Dr. Stephan Athipozhiyil, vescovo della diocesi di Alleppey, abbiamo avviato questo collegio

Il St. Vincent Pallotti College delle Suore Pallottine si trova a Kattor, Korthussery, nel distretto di Alleppy, in Kerala, India. È una parte costiera del Mar Arabico. È una zona cristiana, quindi le suore sono molto coinvolte nella formazione alla fede dei cristiani della nostra parrocchia e del collegio; i nostri studenti sono al 99% cattolici, figli di pescatori.  

Questo luogo è molto esposto a pericoli come le ripetute inondazioni, le forti tempeste e le trombe d'aria che spesso spazzano via le case.

A causa dell'impatto continuo di disastri naturali catastrofici come i cicloni e i monsoni, i pescatori da giugno a novembre si recano raramente in mare per pescare e gli altri mesi sono noti come periodo di secca in mare, perché a causa della forte luce solare i pesci si spostano in profondità.  Di conseguenza, la comunità dei pescatori non è in grado di emergere nella vita, vive in assoluta povertà e non c'è nessun altro lavoro in questo luogo. Pochissimi possiedono una vera e propria canoa, la maggior parte usa una tavola da termos per pescare. Vanno da soli in mare con questa piccola tavola termica e di solito riescono a pescare poco, anche se è un lavoro molto rischioso e pericoloso.

 Il 6 giugno 2014, con la benedizione di Sua Eccellenza Rev.ma Dr. Stephan Athipozhiyil, vescovo della diocesi di Alleppey, abbiamo avviato questo collegio. Oggi il nostro servizio ai giovani nel Collegio San Vincenzo Pallotti è molto riconosciuto e apprezzato dalla Diocesi, dai parrocchiani e dalle persone che ci circondano.

La nostra attenzione è rivolta agli studenti che sono indietro negli studi e che sono al di sotto della media. Questi studenti, che passano con il minimo dei voti, non vengono ammessi nei college governativi o autofinanziati e non hanno molti soldi per pagarli. Ci sono anche diverse ragioni per cui i genitori preferiscono mandare i loro figli nel nostro istituto:  Innanzitutto, in questa località molti adolescenti sono dipendenti da droghe, smocking e alcol. Quest'area è anche famosa per le citazioni di chiasso e molto spesso la polizia arresta i giovani per accoltellamenti, furti, omicidi e crimini vari.  Per questo motivo, i genitori sono sicuri che sotto le nostre cure i loro figli sono al sicuro e che alla fine del corso Plus 2 riusciranno a portare avanti il loro futuro. Un'altra ragione per cui accettano l'ammissione al St Vincent Pallotti College è che le nostre tasse sono molto basse e accessibili.

1. VINCENT PALLOTTI COLLEGE -ALLEPPEY   

St.Vincent Pallotti College of Pallottine Sisters is situated in Kattor, Korthussery in Alleppy district of Kerala in India. It  is a coastal part of an Arabian Sea. It is a Christian area so Sisters are very much involved with faith formation of the Christians of our parish as well as in the college, our students are 99%  Catholics, children of fishermen.  

As this place is very much exposed to dangers such as the repeated floods, heavy storms, and the whirlwind by which often the houses are washed away. The continues impact of one after the other catastrophic natural disasters like cyclone and Monsoon, fishermen from June to November rarely go to the sea to catch fish and other months are known as dry time in the sea because of the heavy sun light, fishes moves to deep down in the sea. 

As a result, the fishermen community is unable to come up in life, they live in utter poverty and there isn’t  any other jobs in this place. Very few are having proper canoe,  majority are using thermos plank for fishing. They go alone in the sea with this small thermos plank and usually they get little catch of fish, though it is a very risky and dangerous job.

On June 6^th, 2014 with the blessings of His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephan Athipozhiyil the bishop of Alleppey Diocese we started this college. Today our service to the youth in St. Vincent Pallotti College is very much recognized and appreciated by the Diocese, parishioners and by the people around us. Our attention is for the students who are backward in studies and who are below average in their studies.

These students who just pass with minimum marks, they don't get admissions in governmental or self financed colleges and they don’t have so much money to pay those colleges. There are also different reasons that parents prefer to send their children in our institute:  First and foremost, in this locality many teenagers are addicted to the drugs, smocking, and alcohol. This area is also famous for quotation rowdies and very often police arrest the youth for stabbing, stealing, killing and for various crimes.  Therefore, parents are confident that under our care their children are safe and at the end of Plus 2 course they will be succeeded to carry their future. An another reason that they take admission in St Vincent Pallotti College is our fees is very low and affordable to them.

In this academic year 2023- 2024 batch there are 175 students are studying in our college.  Sr Judy Cheruvally is the manager, Sr Divya  Antony is the Principal of the College, Sr. Elizabeth is a English teacher and Sr Tessy works in the Office, along with other teachers we are 13 staffs as regular teachers, visiting professors and non teaching  staffs working in the college. 

The subjects taught in Plus One and Plus Two courses are: English, Malayalam, Economics, Political Science, Accountancy, Business Studies, History and Sociology. The college provides various programs like life orientation classes,  motivational seminars;  career guidance, retreats, counselling, psychological, moral and spiritual supports given by the experts and conducted various cultural and extra curriculum activities in different occasions, festivals, sports, games and competition so on.

Every year college day is celebrated with the collaboration of parents and well wishers to give the youth more possibility to explore their talents and creativity. All these programs and different activities helps the students to come out of their evil practices, from bad friendships, from drugs addictions and they will be able to form their character, social behaviors and to make good relationship among them. Therefore, parents are confident that under our care their children are safe and at the end of Plus 2 course they will be succeeded to carry their future. 

In questo anno accademico 2023-2024 ci sono 175 studenti che studiano nel nostro collegio.  Sr Judy Cheruvally è la direttrice, Sr Divya Antony è la direttrice del collegio, Sr Elizabeth è un'insegnante di inglese e Sr Tessy lavora nell'ufficio; insieme agli altri insegnanti ci sono 13 persone tra insegnanti regolari, professori in visita e personale non docente che lavorano nel collegio.  Le materie insegnate nei corsi Plus One e Plus Two sono: Inglese, Malayalam, Economia, Scienze Politiche, Contabilità, Studi Commerciali, Storia e Sociologia.

Il college offre vari programmi come corsi di orientamento alla vita, seminari motivazionali, orientamento alla carriera, ritiri, consulenza, supporto psicologico, morale e spirituale da parte di esperti e svolge varie attività culturali ed extracurriculari in diverse occasioni, festival, sport, giochi e competizioni. Ogni anno viene celebrata la Giornata del college con la collaborazione di genitori e sostenitori, per dare ai giovani maggiori possibilità di esplorare i propri talenti e la propria creatività.

Tutti questi programmi e le diverse attività aiutano gli studenti a uscire dalle loro cattive pratiche, dalle cattive amicizie, dalle dipendenze da droghe e saranno in grado di formare il loro carattere, i loro comportamenti sociali e di creare buoni rapporti tra di loro. Pertanto, i genitori sono fiduciosi che sotto le nostre cure i loro figli siano al sicuro e che alla fine del corso Plus 2 saranno in grado di portare avanti il loro futuro.
